Dot to reunite with a very dear old friend…

-

No, we’re not pulling your Legg – Walford’s original and much-loved GP is coming home to Albert Square!

Eastenders bosses have announced that Leonard Fenton is reprising the role of the infamous Dr Harold Legg, who is set to reconnect with his old friend, Dot…

“It’s a huge honour to have Leonard back in the show,” explains the soap’s executive consultant, John Yorke. “He and June [Brown, who plays Dot] will be working together again for an exciting and emotional story.”

The Square has seen some quacks in its time (yes, ‘Mad’ May Wright, we’re looking at you) – but none more trustworthy than Dr Legg, who served as Walford’s GP from when the soap began in 1985, through to 1997.

Since then, Harold has returned for the funerals of Mark Fowler and Ethel Skinner – and was on call for Dot in 2007 when she got herself in trouble for taking home an abandoned baby she’d found in a church.

The pair have always had a special relationship – with Harold regularly entertaining Dot’s hypochondria – but what brings them together this time? Stars Leonard and June began filming on location together recently, for scenes that see Dot call round to see the doctor. After ringing the doorbell, Dot is about to give up and walk away when he doesn’t answer – but Harold soon comes to the door, and the pair embrace! Meanwhile, the actors are chuffed to be working together again. “I’m very happy to be back at

Eastenders!” exclaims 92-year-old Leonard. “It’s an utter delight!” chips in June. “It’s been 11 years since Dot last visited her favourite doctor!”

Catch their reunion when Dr Legg returns to our screens in the autumn.
