Couch POTATO
Presenter Anna Richardson picks her dream viewing…
I’m absolutely devastated Springwatch has finished, because that was my go-to show for just sitting down and relaxing, and really celebrating how lush and full of life the British Isles are. I spend quite a lot of my time in the Peak District – it’s the place where I feel at my happiest, so Springwatch is a really big programme for me. At the moment, Sue [Perkins, Anna’s partner] and I are totally glued to The Handmaid’s Tale. I read the book when I was a teenager, and it’s just a gripping version of a dystopian world where women are controlled according to whether or not they are fertile. At the end of each episode, you feel really exhausted and as though you need a stiff drink!
I’m obsessed with The League Of Gentlemen. There’s just something about its surreal takes on a fictitious northern town that really resonates with me, because I grew up in the north. I will absolutely laugh out loud at The League Of Gentlemen.
I can remember when I was eight years old being well into both Starsky & Hutch and Charlie’s Angels. I really fancied Hutch, played by David Soul – even as an eight-yearold, I was like, “Whoa, he’s hot!” And I wanted to be Sabrina Duncan from Charlie’s Angels – she was the one who had the dark bob, so I decided to copy her look and never changed it!
I’d really love to present The Voice – I think it’s an amazing format, genuinely bursting with talent. I love what Emma Willis does, but if she gets pregnant again and goes on maternity leave, I’d happily slip into her shoes…
