She’s currently preparing to marry Daniel and welcome their baby into the world – but Sinead has a major medical shock in store, it’s been revealed.

Reports are that Sinead is set to battle cervical cancer in the coming months, though she will decide to keep her diagnosis – which may have devastatin­g consequenc­es for her unborn child – a secret from her husband-to-be Daniel.

Sinead is set to discover she has cancer having been aware of symptoms for a while, but failed to seek medical advice. As Sinead’s story plays out, however,

Coronation Street is hoping to promote the importance of attending regular smear tests, which check for signs of cervical cancer…

“It’s been revealed that many young women are failing to attend their smear test appointmen­ts,” reports our Weatherfie­ld source. “Sinead has recently been worried that something could be wrong, but has put off going to the doctor – reminding viewers that it’s hugely important to get these concerns checked out at the earliest opportunit­y.” Tabloid newspaper The

Sun has also revealed that the Coronation Street team is working alongside cancer charities in order to ensure accuracy of the storyline. Following her diagnosis, expectant Sinead will face a difficult dilemma as she weighs up her treatment options – but how long can she keep Daniel in the dark?

“This is an awful situation for Sinead to have to deal with alone,” sighs our insider. “Cancer treatment could affect her unborn baby’s future, which will leave poor Sinead with a lot of tough decisions to make.
