PADDY CONSIDINE AND NABHAAN RIZWAN STAR IN A NEW THRILLER ABOUT DIVIDED LOYALTIES…

-

When Raza Shar is arrested for drug possession, it occurs to the Counterterrorism Special Unit that this young, savvy secondgeneration British-pakistani man could be very useful to them. So, DS Gabe Waters sets about making Raza an informant – and if he has to make life difficult for Raza’s family to do that, well, that’s just a part of the process. But this new role puts Raza in a complicated position that calls his loyalties into question. Paddy Considine (Gabe) and Nabhaan Rizwan (Raza) reveal more…

How would you describe Gabe and Raza?

Paddy Gabe’s very secretive and covert. He has worked undercover for many years, and that’s left a scar on his psyche. He carries around the weight of his work, and is always running away from things about himself.

Nabhaan Raza is a young, sharp-witted dude from east London. He works in a factory, but is aware of ‘the system’. He’s also close to his mum, Sadia, and his brother, Nasir, who Raza sees as a younger version of himself. Raza wants Nasir to embrace the opportunities he didn’t have.

What’s Gabe and Raza’s relationship like?

Paddy There are rules about how to operate with informers: you have to remember there is a professional relationship, but sometimes it can teeter into the personal. That starts to happen with Gabe and Raza. Gabe starts to respect this young kid when he sees how good he is at getting in and out of situations.

Nabhaan, this is your first TV role. How was it?

Nabhaan I remember the first day of filming on Brick Lane – the camera was there and I had to make it look like I was walking naturally. That feels like a long time ago! I’ve learnt so much since then.
