Couch POTATO
Actor Ste Johnston picks his dream viewing…
I know I’m very behind, but I’ve just started Game
Of Thrones, and I think it’s great. I had started it once before, and got a bit confused by it! That’s the problem with drama serials, everyone’s giving you all these recommendations, and you’re like, “This is going to take months!”
I thought Three Girls had really
strong storytelling. But I had to watch it one episode a week – I couldn’t watch it one after the other because it was so hard-hitting. But I think it’s exciting that TV is willing to push the boundaries now, because dramas are getting more interesting to watch.
I love watching old
comedies on Gold. I was brought up on old-school stuff like Morecambe And Wise, and lately I’ve been watching Hi-de-hi! and
Are You Being Served?.
John Inman and Mollie Sugden’s comic timing is phenomenal. Let’s go on my Sky planner and see what I’ve got on there… Cruising With
Jane Mcdonald – I got to work with her last year, she’s brilliant. I’ve also got Rupaul’s Drag Race and The Real Marigold Hotel, and I love 24 Hours
In Police Custody. That’s something we used to watch for “research”!
I’d have loved to have been in
Benidorm before that finished, or to be in This Country. Or Corrie – as a northerner, you’ve got to do Corrie! I think when Coronation Street does the comedy stuff it does it so well. I always notice whenever Jonathan Harvey or Damon Rochefort have written an episode because theirs are always really funny!
