Emmerdale viewers can rest assured that prison isn’t going to stand in the way of Kim Tate’s epic return to Home Farm – as Inside Soap can confirm that she will return as a regular character next year!
“Although Kim’s initial comeback was fleeting, she caused so much mischief and chaos that we couldn’t resist bringing her back,” explains the soap’s executive producer, Jane Hall. “Ms Tate is just getting warmed up for an explosive 2019, that will see her hell-bent on getting exactly what – and who – she wants.”
After ordering the death of Joe Tate and being flung over a balcony at the hands of Faith, Kim was sent straight back to jail as the police learned that she’d breached the terms of her early release. Her last instruction to Graham was for him to track down her estranged son James Tate – so it sounds as if we can expect to meet him when Kim is freed in six months’ time…
“He’s bound to be young, glamorous and gorgeous – the bosses are going to want to bring in that kind of character to replace Ned [Porteous, who played Joe], aren’t they?” muses actress
Claire King, who plays Kim. “He’ll be a good-looking boy!”
And what about Kim’s attempted murderer, Faith? Should she be worried for her own safety, if Kim finds out that she was the Dingle who shoved her?
“Definitely!” grins Claire. “I don’t think Kim will be leaving it at that, do you?”
