Chesney plans a date with Gemma
HE’S GUTTED WHEN GEMMA SNOGS HER MATE SPIKE…
The depth of Chesney’s feelings for close pal Gemma are made clear this week, after he’s horrified to see her kissing her mate Spike right in front of him!
Ches has arranged to meet Gemma in the Bistro, hoping that romance might finally blossom. So when he sees Gemma rushing into Spike’s arms and snogging his face off, the poor bloke reckons that he doesn’t stand a chance…
“It’s soul-destroying for Chesney!” sighs Sam Aston, who plays him. “He’s messed up completely, because when he asks Gemma out, he makes it sound like it’s just about mates meeting up for a drink. But then he arrives at the
Bistro in a velvet jacket, hair combed over and carrying flowers. He’s all set for a date, because it’s a moment that’s been coming for ages.”
Although Chesney and Gemma have been best mates for months, having bonded working in the kebab shop, Ches has struggled to take their friendship to the next level.
“Chesney has had Gemma’s back from day one,” says
Sam. “Even when he was with Sinead, people would ask what was going on with
Ches and Gemma. At first it was just a case of them getting on really well. Chesney is protective of Gemma because neither have many people in their lives. She’s fun, and they have a laugh – he has a real soft spot for her.”
Fortunately, Chesney has Emma by his side as the reality of Gemma’s relationship with Spike hits home. And, hoping to save Ches some of his embarrassment, she steps in and offers to make a foursome for dinner.
“Emma volunteers to join them, so Chesney just goes with it,” shares Sam. “But she really hams it up, and Ches is dying inside. He also takes an instant dislike to Spike, as he’s rude, so the whole thing is a nightmare for him!”
While it’s obvious that Emma has her eye on Chesney, it also soon transpires that Gemma fancies Ches as much as he fancies her! But when will they finally make their feelings clear and get it together?

“They’ve always been chasing one another’s tails, but the timing has never worked,” admits Sam. “Chesney’s not been on many dates, so this is uncharted territory for him. He definitely needs a few dating tips, because he’s lousy at it!”
