Kerry discovers Bernice’s affair
SHE’S HORRIFIED AS HER SAUCY FLING IS DISCOVERED…
Bernice is left with a lot of explaining to do this week – as she’s caught sneaking Dr Cavanagh back to the salon for a steamy snogging session!
Kerry and Jimmy are in the middle of a covert spray-tanning appointment when Bernice comes stumbling in, oblivious, smooching with her secret lover. Subsequently, Jimmy and Kerry make a mortified exit, assuming the mystery man must be Bernice’s boyfriend Daz – but when he’s the first person they see as they take cover in the Woolpack, the truth of Bernice’s duplicity is shockingly revealed…
“Bernice has no idea that Kerry and Jimmy are in the salon!” admits Sam Giles, who plays Bernice. “She drags Liam off upstairs and doesn’t notice them. She’s completely bowled over by lust! She’s so attracted by Liam’s doctor status, plus he’s tall and rather dashing. So while she’s got these honourable intentions towards Daz, things aren’t quite going to plan.”
Indeed, Daz has no idea that Bernice has been carrying on with the local medic for several weeks. And while she’s supposedly been trying to let him down gently,
Bernice still hasn’t managed to get the deed done…
“She does want to do the right thing by Daz,” sighs
Sam. “But she’s aware of how vulnerable he is and doesn’t want to hurt him – even though it’s inevitable! Every time she goes to finish it, something else happens to stop her. Just before this particular moment with Liam, she once again tries to end things with Daz.
“But then she finds out his friend has died, and she’s upset she still hasn’t been able to do it, so she calls Liam. He starts telling her how much she means to him – the temptation is too great – so that’s why she’s dragging him into the salon for some passion!”
While Kerry and Jimmy are clueless as to the identity of Bernice’s secret lover, the knowledge that she’s doing the dirty on Daz outrages
Kerry, whose partner is
Daz’s brother Dan. And typically, she wastes no time in launching both barrels at horrified Bernice.
Kerry is disgusted with Bernice… and gives her an ultimatum!”
“Kerry is really cross and disgusted with Bernice,” shares Sam. “She gives Bernice an ultimatum – but you’ll have to wait and see what the outcome will be! While Bernice has been hurt by men in the past, I’m afraid that she has also cheated before – with her sister Nicola’s ex-fiancé Carlos – and cheating is always going to cause problems. It can get very messy, and sometimes, there’s no going back…”
As to whether Bernice will take the opportunity to make a clean break from Daz and settle down with Dr Liam, Sam can’t say. But she’s also not sure whether Bernice might finally have a happy-ever-after in store…
“Bernice would definitely fancy herself as a doctor’s wife,” considers Sam.
“And she’s really enjoyed being pursued by Liam.
They probably have more in common than she and
Daz do, and the way he’s been wooing her is really appealing to Bernice.
“But it’s important to have a soap character who just doesn’t find long-lasting happiness romantically. There are so many single people out there who are still kissing frogs, so they need a character to identify with!”
