Bob tries to win back Brenda!

HE’S DESPERATE TO RECAPTURE HIS ESTRANGED WIFE’S HEART…

- Kate White

Brenda has a huge decision to make this week, as her estranged husband Bob moves in for a kiss! Following the breakdown of his relationship with Laurel, the flighty barman has finally realised that he was better off with Brenda – who is now dating Doug. But although Brenda was destroyed when the man she loved left her, that doesn’t mean she’s desperate for a reunion. In fact, Brenda isn’t having any of it!

“When Bob moves in for a kiss, Brenda is rather horrified,” explains Lesley Dunlop, who plays the deserted wife. “She just thought he’d understand that she’s being kind rather than flirty. She doesn’t want him back!”

The thing that matters most to Brenda is that the twins, Heath and Cathy, don’t have to suffer because of Bob’s break-up with Laurel. They are desperate for a reunion between Brenda and Bob, and given the fact that her romance with Doug is on shaky ground, it makes sense to them. So what has Doug done wrong?

“She thinks he’s a bit of a bore!” admits Lesley. “He wants her to accompany him on a date, but it’s a gardening event, and she’s not keen to go at all. She’s rather relieved when the kids are ill, so she can avoid it. I think Doug and a gardening thing would just be too much for her.”

It’s fair to say that Doug is a bit of a rebound for Brenda, though is she kidding herself that she doesn’t still have some feelings for Bob?

“Well, she’s quite firm when she explains it’s not happening to the kids,” explains Lesley.

Brenda has moved on from Bob – she can’t get back with him…”

“Doug’s more parochial and less fun-loving than Bob. But I think she’s moved on from Bob, and she’s disappointed for the kids that getting back with him is not what she wants or can give them.”

It looks as if Bob is going to have to resign himself to the single life. However, Lesley is hoping it’s not the end of their story. That said, she does think some time needs to pass before the Hope family is whole again.

“One day I want Brenda to end up back with Bob,” she tells us. “They should realise that they are made for each other. Mind you, she’d have to get over the concerns that he would cheat again. In the meantime, Brenda would like some fun, spontaneity and intelligence – she wants some more interesting dates! I think she should take a break from village men!”
