Mandy thinks she’s losing her baby
IS SHE LOSING HER CHILD?
With a custody battle brewing over Darren’s kids, Mandy is feeling the pressure this week, but things get worse when she suddenly collapses – with only Nancy to help her!
The drama begins as Darren announces that he will be representing himself at the custody hearing. However, with Nancy believing he’s hired a lawyer, she goes ahead and enlists legal help. Darren frantically realises he will need money for representation if he’s going to stand a chance – so he resorts to desperate measures to get some…
“Mandy wins £200 on a scratch card,” explains Sarah Jayne Dunn, who plays her. “And as she’s recently found out that she’s pregnant, any spare money will be put aside. She starts to think everything is falling into place.”
Shortly after her win, disaster strikes, as the scratch card goes missing! It soon becomes clear that it was taken by the baby’s father-to-be, Darren. When we then see him at the Loft, gambling away, has he fallen back into old habits?
“It’s a desperate move by Darren,” reckons Sarah. “He’s trying to get more money so he can get a better solicitor. Mandy is just worried because of all the times where Luke had no control with his alcoholism, and Darren is a gambling addict, so her experience with both men is very similar.”
Soon, Mandy, Darren and Nancy head to court to fight for Oscar and Charlie. But as the atmosphere at the hearing turns toxic, Mandy walks out. It isn’t until Nancy finds her later that they realise something is very wrong…
“Nancy discovers her in the toilets,” Sarah tells us. “Mandy’s having a bleed and thinks that she’s losing the baby! She’s lost a child before and it’s her biggest fear – she’s terrified!”

to get hold of Darren, so she stays with her hubby’s mistress.
“It takes a lot for Nancy to stay,” admits Sarah. “And it’s a really lovely thing for Nancy to do. She tells Mandy that she’s staying for the baby and not Mandy – but the first pieces of the bridge have been built.”
The two begin to talk and guilty Mandy apologises for everything she’s done to Nancy.
“Nancy doesn’t forgive her,” shares Sarah. “But I think there is a realisation that Mandy and Darren are together – no matter how hard she fights against it, that’s the way it’s going to be.”
Luckily, on-duty nurse Sinead comes to their aid and finds the baby’s heartbeat! However, the test results are still worrying…
“It’s her worst nightmare to think that there might be complications,” reveals Sarah. “Everything was great, and getting back on track. This is yet another terrifying situation they’ve found themselves in!”
