FRIEND OF DOROTHY

KEELEY HAWES FILLS US IN ON HER ENIGMATIC ROLE IN THE FAMILY DRAMA…

-

Were you paying attention during last week’s episode of Mrs

Wilson? Then you’ll likely have spotted Keeley Hawes popping up briefly in a couple of scenes. Chances are you’ll also have worked out that one generally wouldn’t hire Ms Hawes for a glorified cameo, so you’ll have wondered what her character Dorothy’s connection to the Wilsons is. Well, that’s where Alison herself (played by Ruth Wilson) is heading in this episode, as she tracks down Dorothy in search of answers…

“We have a fantastic scene together of these two women meeting – that was really exciting,” reveals Keeley. “I’m a big fan of Ruth’s, and she was just brilliant. She has been so relaxed about this story, and so generous on every level with it. She’ll have a laugh about it and go, ‘Oh, God, wasn’t it crazy?’ Her whole family has been really great in allowing the story to be told.”

There are further shocks in store for Alison in this week’s episode, as she picks up more details about her husband’s other life, and Keeley confirms that she found the story absolutely fascinating – particularly when she started discussing it with others…

“The whole thing is one revelation after another – it’s just extraordinary,” she muses. “If it wasn’t real, you’d have got the script and gone, ‘Pfft! Come on! It’s too much!’

But it’s all true – it’s stranger than fiction. And whenever I’ve said to anybody, ‘I’m doing this amazing story,’ the majority of people then go, ‘And guess what happened in my family!’ I think it’s quite cathartic for people, something like this, because you think, ‘Ah, everybody’s got a slightly bonkers family.’ But very few have got one like this!”
