Shona chooses her son over David

Shona is left with no choice but to try to help her jailed son, Clayton, this week – even it means losing David!
After confessing to Shona that he is being bullied in prison, Clayton stunned his mother with a risky ultimatum that he insisted is key to his survival on the inside. It was with a heavy heart that law-abiding Shona refused his request – but when he’s beaten to within an inch of his life, the terrified woman is forced to face the horror of Clayton’s situation.
“Shona can’t just turn a blind eye to Clayton – he is her son,” sympathises our Corrie insider. “However, as far as David is concerned, this will always be the man who stabbed his wife Kylie to death, robbing him and their children of a wife and mother. As much as David loves Shona, there is just absolutely no way he can compromise on this for her.”
David was furious after learning that Clayton had reached out to his mum, so Shona doesn’t dare tell him this week that someone has broken into their house and filmed them while they were asleep, as a result of Clayton’s troubles in prison.
Having found a DVD confirming the chilling fact, Shona is later cornered in the barber shop by two thugs, who insist that she carry out their demands. However, the exchange is interrupted by Nick – and he puts pressure on Shona to reveal what is going on. Will she find herself turning to David’s brother as her only means of support?

Meanwhile, Shona receives a call from the prison informing her that Clayton has been attacked and taken to hospital. However, as Shona despairs at the sight of her son fighting for his life, David works out that she is hiding something from him and proceeds to furiously smash up the mirrors at the barber shop, before confronting Nick…
“David is no fool, and if he realises that Shona is in cahoots with Nick over Clayton, he’ll flip his lid,” reckons our source. “Once the paranoia and doubts begin to creep in, there will be no reasoning with David. It’s like a red rag to a bull!”
That’s putting it mildly, as David piles pressure on Nick to spill the beans – later setting the stage for an excruciating showdown between him and Shona, who is reeling from visiting Clayton. After David demands to know why Clayton was beaten up, Shona treads carefully as she chooses to leave out the fact that her son has been attempting to coerce her into breaking the law for him. But will shrewd David know that she is not being completely honest, and see it as the ultimate betrayal?
