Sonya’s shock!
CALLUM SURPRISES HER AT HER CHARITY FUND-RAISER…
Callum makes a shock return to Ramsay Street this week, after learning his mum Sonya has been diagnosed with cancer.
Although Sonya recently revealed her illness to her friends and family living in Erinsborough, she made it clear that she didn’t want her son to know what she’s going through. So the last thing that she expects is for Callum to turn up at the fund-raiser, and pledge a massive amount of money during the charity auction…
“I love Morgan [Baker, who plays Callum] – having him back made this plot worthwhile,” grins Eve Morey, who plays Sonya. “This storyline has been pretty awful to play out, so it was nice to have Morgan’s energy and humour there. It’s crazy to think he’s 21 now – he was 11 when he first started on the show!”
Although Sonya is utterly delighted to see her son, she’s furious to find out that one of her well-meaning relatives called him and told him about her cancer. She’s quick to jump to the conclusion that it was her husband, Toadie – but as she takes him to task for his meddling, her relative Dipi sheepishly admits that she was in fact the one who broke the news to Callum.
While the confrontation gets heated, it all becomes too much for Sonya – who faints in the middle of the pub! Thankfully, Callum catches his mum before she hits the floor… but is this a sign that Sonya’s condition is deteriorating?
