ANNA PAQUIN STARS AS A CELEBRITY PR DEALING WITH CRISES IN A NEW SERIES…
Helping a footballer sneak a sexual conquest out of his hotel suite in the middle of the night, or ensuring that a celebrity chef’s infidelity doesn’t kill his career – it’s all in a day’s work for celeb PR Robyn in this new comedydrama that explores the things that the stars would rather we never found out about.
“It was Ollie’s [Oliver Lansley] writing that drew me to it,” reveals True Blood star Anna Paquin, who plays Robyn. “It was like when you’re reading something going, ‘I feel like
I’m either a terrible person for laughing at this, or this is the best thing I’ve read in my life!’ Robyn is a wonderfully human person, who is a mess in her own life, but all the reasons that she’s a disaster make her fantastic at her job.”
Having been in the public eye since her breakthrough in
the movie The Piano aged 11, Anna knows a thing or two about the wild world of celebrity – though she assures us she wouldn’t be any trouble to her character.
“I’ve had the same PR since I was 12, and I’m 36 now, so I’m annoyingly boring,” she grins. “But the world of PR is fascinating. It spins what has been put out into the world into what you want to be seen – and that includes twisting things that are not so flattering, or shedding light on things where someone has tried to make a story out of nothing. But it’s all an industry – and a work of art in its own way.”
