The enemy within

-

“I don’t want the war to be over.” It’s not a sentiment you hear expressed very often, but the end of the Second World War does come as a disappointment for Feef Symonds in this new six-part drama. That’s because she’s been training to go undercover as a spy in Nazi territory, but now her services will not be required. It also means the inevitable end of her affair with Peter, a married man in the US secret service.

It seems as though Feef’s future lies in a dull desk job in the civil service, but Peter thinks it’s a shame to let all of that training go to waste. So he and his colleague Rowe recruit her to monitor Whitehall for potential communist activity – but does Feef know exactly what she’s signing up for?
