Daniel struggles with his essay

BRIAN OFFERS TO HELP HIM MEET HIS DEADLINE – BUT IT ALL GOES WRONG…

- Tom Spilsbury

Daniel starts buckling under the pressure this week, as his wife Sinead’s health remains a huge issue and his university work piles up. Can the frazzled fella keep it together for his missus?

The struggling new father is stressed to the max as he attempts to meet a deadline for his master’s degree. The timing couldn’t be worse, though, because it coincides with his wife Sinead beginning her radiotherapy treatment. And on top of all that, he’s still trying to work his regular shifts at the Bistro, and help Sinead with baby Bertie. So something has to give…

“It’s no surprise that Sinead is concerned Daniel has taken on far too much,” reckons our Coronation Street snoop. “He’s practically dead on his feet! The stress of this essay is the final straw. Sinead thinks that Daniel would be better off letting Brian take a look at the essay, while her husband has time out to play with Bertie.”

Daniel admits that he’s not coping too well and so takes his wife’s advice, while Brian is only too happy to help out with the assignment. Not long afterwards, Brian has successfully typed out several thousand words, and he’s delighted with his own handiwork. However, disaster strikes when the well-meaning teacher proceeds to knock over his mug of coffee, leaving the laptop sparking, and the essay apparently lost forever!

Brian is forced to fess up to Sinead, admitting he’s most likely ruined Daniel’s chances of meeting his deadline and receiving a respectable grade. Surprisingly, Sinead doesn’t seem too bothered, and tells Brian that she’s sure that Daniel will have all the work backed up in the cloud.

Sinead is concerned that Daniel has taken on far too much…”

“You can imagine Brian’s huge sense of relief when they’re able to restore the essay,” chuckles our snitch. “He’d worked so hard on it. Daniel is able to submit the piece – however, there’s a sting in the tail…”

A couple of days later, Daniel’s lecturer applauds him for such a stunning piece of work. Unfortunately, the praise is so effusive that Daniel is left feeling a fraud for receiving so much assistance from Brian! As Brian offers to help again – and Ken muscles in, saying that because he has an English degree, he should also be supporting his son – can Daniel overcome his doubts about his own academic ability?
