Stuart drops his
‘Mr Nice Guy’ act this week – and takes a pop at Rainie!
The evil fella had appeared to have turned over a new leaf, and had been on his best behaviour while living under Dot’s roof. However, when recovering drug addict Rainie catches him at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting, secrets from his past begin to unravel – and Stuart doesn’t take too kindly to her poking her nose in. Is Rainie playing with fire?
“Stuart is a potentially scary character for Rainie, but she’s met a lot of guys like him before,” reasons actress
Tanya Franks, who plays her. “She’s been in situations with dangerous people many times, and I think that, although she might be frightened in the moment, Rainie will also stand up to him. She knows what she’s doing.”
It seems that Rainie is only too happy to stir things up for Stuart, as she has very little else to keep her occupied. Fed up that Max is away with Jack and little Abi, and that she’s been left to rattle around the house on her own, Rainie is feeling hungover and mortified as she reels from a drunken encounter with a man, Lewis, whom she met in the Vic.
The pair bump into each other again at Walford East, where it dawns on Rainie just how close she is to hitting the self-destruct button.
With that, Rainie makes the decision to go to the NA group, where she sees Stuart. As a recovering addict, she understands the courage and determination it takes for a person to attend such a meeting – though after Rainie overhears the way the seemingly reformed fella talks about Dot, she can’t help but feel suspicious.
“Rainie doesn’t trust Stuart’s motives – especially when it comes to Dot,” explains Tanya. “She tries to push his buttons to get the truth out of him as to why he is at the group – and I also think that a big part of it is Rainie managing to get one up on someone. It makes her feel good to be able to show
someone else that she is in control.”
This could be a move that Rainie lives to regret, though, after she taunts Stuart in the Vic about seeing him at the meeting, and he turns on her. As Stuart is forced to reveal secrets from his past to Rainie – and later Dot – who will suffer the consequences?
