TAYLOR MADE
JESSICA RAINE ARRIVES AS A EUROPOL OFFICER WITH A KEEN INTEREST IN BAPTISTE’S CASE…
Things are getting complicated for Baptiste now that he knows the truth about Edward’s involvement in the investigation – but more issues lie ahead, as the case comes to the attention of Europol’s Genevieve Taylor. She visits Amsterdam in a bid to convince Edward to work with the police – but may put a few noses out of joint in the process…
“She’s the head of a team investigating a gang,” explains Jessica Raine, who plays her. “What Edward has done is pulled a thread on this jumper and it’s suddenly coming apart. Genevieve’s alerted to this and swoops in and pulls rank with everyone.”
In just the two episodes we’ve seen, we’ve spent a lot of time second-guessing the characters’ motivations, and even Genevieve has a few question marks hanging over her.
“She’s really blunt,” reveals Jessica. “It’s refreshing to play someone who doesn’t care about what people think. She’s so focused on getting the bad guy that I hope viewers won’t quite know whether she’s good or bad.”
The last time we saw Jessica playing a cop was in series two of Line Of Duty, where her character was dispatched shockingly swiftly – but she’s hoping Genevieve sticks around a bit longer.
“Hopefully she’ll make it past more than one episode!” she grins. “But there’s lots of jeopardy for her. She’s in quite deep so I got to film incredible stunts and car chases with guns – I get my own gun! I’m against guns, but wanted a role that has one at some point – and to channel some Sigourney Weaver...”
