Dev returns – to utter chaos!

HE HAS A TERROR IN THE SHOP AND A TERRIBLE TEEN BACK AT HOME…

- Allison Jones

There’s not much of a warm welcome back to Weatherfield for Dev this week, as his return throws up troubles with his daughter Asha – and his wayward employee, Evelyn!

The corner shop boss has been in India with twins Asha and Aadi, but when he arrives home with just Asha in tow, he informs pal Mary that his girl has been a nightmare to deal with. However, while Mary insists she’ll unearth what’s going on with Asha, Dev has more problems with Evelyn…

“Dev barely has time to unpack before it all starts kicking off,” sighs our cobbles spy. “It sounds as if Asha’s already been putting her dad through the mill while they’ve been away visiting a poorly relative. And he doesn’t yet know the half of what that pesky Evelyn’s been up to in his absence!”

The first big shock concerning his stand-in shop manager comes courtesy of Steve – who informs Dev of the dodgy gambling ring Evelyn has established on the back of insider tips from oblivious Weatherfield County player James Bailey. There’s also the not insignificant issue of Evelyn reducing the price of items she buys from the shop – and the pair very soon fall out. But Evelyn’s fraudulent behaviour could be the least of Dev’s problems once the extent of Asha’s issues is revealed… “Asha might well be more comfortable opening up to Mary than her dad,” suggests our sneak. “Dev is heartened when his daughter returns home to report she’s had a good day.

But as she drops her bag on the floor, sending its contents spilling out, Asha panics…”

notices. Will she be quick enough? If not, how will Dev deal with the discovery that his daughter is so distressed by her appearance that she’s willing to go to dangerous lengths in order to change it?
