Love rat Robert thinks the game is up this week, when Vicky’s ex-fella Jed finds him in possession of two engagement rings!
It doesn’t take Jed long to figure out that Robert is deceiving both pregnant Vicky and Michelle, and he threatens to reveal everything to the ladies in question – unless Robert does what he says.
Jed is willing to make a deal, and it involves Robert paying him off, and convincing his son Tyler to move to Ireland with him. Will Robert take this opportunity to save his skin?
“This is Robert’s nightmare – Jed’s got him over a barrel and is now calling all the
shots,” says our cobbles spy. “He thought that he’d won when Vicky agreed to marry him and forget about starting a new life with former flame Jed in Ireland – even though he had to propose to her and hand over Michelle’s expensive engagement ring to seal the deal! Although now Jed has everything he needs to blow Robert’s double life apart!”
The trouble kicks off when Robert gets a text about the cheap replica engagement ring, which he plans to give Vicky. Believing he’s off to pick up her ring, clueless Michelle waves her fiancé goodbye. But after he collects the fake ring and gives it to Vicky, he’s horrified to find the window of his van smashed and the real ring – which he was hiding in there – gone, before Jed steps out and asks Robert why he needs two engagement rings! Bang to rights, Robert is forced to leave.
Back on the Street, he has to explain to Michelle why he doesn’t have her ring, and reports the van break-in to copper Craig. But when his details about being parked in Macclesfield are proved false by CCTV footage, Robert has to think fast to cover the lies.
“His behaviour is really quite bizarre, and Michelle has already been wondering exactly what is up with Robert,” explains our insider.
“He’s under huge pressure when Jed turns up with his demands, which involve Robert withdrawing £2,000 from the Bistro safe and buying his silence! He tells Michelle that the money has been spent on a new ring, but it’s all really suspicious. Robert has got himself caught up in a very tangled web.”
The next day, Jed can’t believe it when he hears Robert telling Tyler that he hopes he’ll be around to help bring up the baby. When Jed confronts Robert, the furious chef pulls an ace card – he’s caught blackmailing Jed on tape! Promising to go to the police if Jed doesn’t do one, Robert’s relieved when the slippery man scuttles away.
But having lied through his teeth yet again, is Robert making life too complicated to keep up the façade?
