It’s Callum & Whitney’s wedding!

...But will she still say ‘I do’?

- Laura-jayne Tyler

CALLUM’S AFFAIR WITH BEN IS FINALLY REVEALED – AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE…

What should be the happiest day of Whitney’s life turns into her worst nightmare this week – after she finally discovers that Callum cheated on her with Ben!

Once the secret is out, Callum is adamant that he wants to go through with the wedding, and tries to convince Whitney that she is the person that he wants to be with. But will the bride be able to move past his betrayal, so the pair can live happily ever after?

“I think the word ‘happily’ for Callum might be the wrong word!” despairs actor Tony Clay, who plays him. “I think in his mind, in terms of what Callum’s dad and brother think – and what he thinks the world’s interpretation of him is – marrying Whitney is what he should be doing. “Callum’s thinking, ‘Right, we’ll get married, have two kids, move to the suburbs and everything is going to be fine’,” continues Tony. “Equally, though, in his heart Callum knows that it’s not right. He needs to be true to himself, and that’s what he gets from Ben.”

Eastenders viewers will have to tune in to find out exactly how devastated Whitney learns the truth, but the drama that follows promises to be explosive, as she decides whether or not to go through with the big day. The heartbroken bride makes it as far as the registry office at least, and is reunited with mum Bianca (see p42’s Big Interview with actress Patsy Palmer for more).

However, while Callum waits anxiously – not knowing whether his bride will turn up or not – Whitney arrives at the venue and comes face to face with love rival Ben. Is he there to stop the wedding from going ahead?

“Ben’s aware of Callum’s personal dilemma but – crazy as this sounds because he can be very selfish at times – Ben’s not thinking about himself,” explains actor Max Bowden, who plays him, taking up the story. “I think he genuinely wants Callum to be who he is – and that isn’t marrying Whitney and going through with this wedding. For the first time since making his return to Albert Square, Ben is being open and honest, and is trying to give this man Callum a chance at being himself.”

Knowing the truth, Whitney has a big decision to make. Will she and Callum tie the knot – or will the groom end up back in Ben’s arms? Either way, the big day will end in total carnage – as the trio later find themselves in the

Vic, where they are among the locals being held at gunpoint by Hunter (see p10). Will any of them live to find their true happiness?

“Ben wants Callum to be who he is – and not marry Whitney…”
