Sean stops Eileen from leaving

EILEEN’S PALS STAGE AN INTERVENTION TO STOP HER LEAVING...

- Kate White

Eileen prepares to quit Weatherfield and start a new life under witness protection with Jan this week – but her friends, including Sean, are determined to stop her.

Although it’s devastating to say goodbye to her loved ones on Coronation Street, the only way Eileen and Jan can be together safely is if they disappear. Packing her belongings, Eileen says a last goodbye to unwitting friends Steve and Tim, who think that she’s just off on holiday for two weeks. In fact, it’s suspicious Sean who clocks what’s really going on, and embarks on a drastic course of action.

“Sean thinks Eileen is making a terrible decision and that it’ll ruin her life,” says our Weatherfield insider. “To live for the rest of her days knowing that evil people are out to get them and will kill them if they ever catch up with them? That’s a nightmare waiting to happen. Sean can’t fathom why Eileen is even considering it, so he decides to step in before it’s too late.”

Instead of begging Eileen to reconsider, Sean heads to visit Jan at the hospital. He pulls no punches by telling Jan that if he really loves Eileen and cares about her safety, the only way forward is to let her go. Although they clearly have deep feelings for one another, Jan is struggling with his conscience about bringing Eileen into his world and putting her through what’s to come. But she’s everything he wants in a woman, and they could be so happy together.

As Eileen gathers the last of her things, she stops to say an emotional farewell to Seb. He’s already found a new roommate in the form of Mary, and promises that they’ll

both look after Eileen’s home. Following that, the nervous woman makes her way to the hospital.

“Eileen knows this is her chance to be genuinely happy with a good man who loves her,” comments our snoop. “After the hell she went through with Pat Phelan, this is the fresh start she has been hoping for. It’s not ideal, but it’s good enough for Eileen.

All she needs now is Jan.”

As she arrives on the ward, Eileen goes to find Jan in his room. Will he be ready to whisk her away to a new life, or has Sean’s intervention worked?
