Can David save his son?
HE DIVES IN AFTER OLLIE FALLS INTO A RIVER…
Nurse David finds himself in the most horrendous situation this week, after his son Ollie falls into a freezing cold river – forcing his dad to jump in after him!
The horrifying accident comes about after Ollie runs away from home in a bid to get his dad’s attention. But once David finally tracks him down, the catastrophe unfolds…
“When David first hears that his son is missing, he’s terrified,” admits Jason Durr, who plays the worried father. “He has to leave the hospital to try to find him – he’s looking everywhere. He goes to the place where Ollie was last seen, and attempts to track him on his phone. It’s more by accident that he finds him sitting on the edge of a bridge.”
As David and Ollie start to work through their issues, Ollie slips from the ledge – and despite David’s best efforts to save him, the boy plunges into the murky river below! Thinking nothing for his own safety, David dives straight in after his son – and Jason tells us that it was a huge challenge to film the dramatic scenes.
“We both went into the river three or four times,” he reveals. “It was a very cold, bumpy river, strewn with natural hazards, and at one point I had to dive under the water. In between takes, we’d sit in a hot tub to bring our core temperature back up to where it should be!”
Viewers will have to tune in to Saturday’s episode to discover whether
David’s attempts to save his son will be successful. But Jason explains that – whatever the outcome – David will end up blaming himself for this terrible turn of events.
“David’s a sensitive soul, so he does feel that it’s his fault,” confirms the star. “But then he gets this pep-talk from Rosa, and she’s very forthright in what she says to him. That’s actually really refreshing for David – it enables him to see the other side of the argument. There’s an interesting dynamic between the two of them, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens there…”
