Jai’s son Archie’s mum dies
HIS SON ARCHIE’S MUM IS DEAD…
There’s a massive bombshell for Jai this week, as son Archie arrives to live with him after the sudden death of his mum Rachel Breckle.
For years, Jai has been desperate to have a proper relationship with his boy, who was taken on the run by Rachel when he was just a baby. After Rachel returned to the village, she and Jai had a vicious custody battle, which Archie’s mum eventually won. However, now Archie is back, and he needs his dad more than ever – even though he barely knows him…
“This is the most bittersweet reunion that Jai can imagine,” explains our Emmerdale spy. “For so long now, he’s been hell-bent on having his son with him, and now he has what he wanted – sole custody of Archie. But, no matter how bad things got between them, Jai never wanted things to end like this for Rachel. It’s absolutely tragic.”
It’s Dan who delivers the bad news when he brings Archie to the village. As Rachel’s former brother-in-law, Dan was in contact with her and knows that Archie needs to be with family now. But as Archie arrives, he’s deep in grief and can’t engage with Jai at all.
Rachel’s death has turned the poor lad’s life upside down, and Archie doesn’t know how to make sense of it all.
“Jai has to be everything to Archie now, and that’s a huge responsibility,” explains our insider. “But he has this six-year-old in front of him who has had his life shattered by tragedy. Helping him through that and trying to build a new bond is going to take a lot of time. Jai needs to buckle up.”
