Linda meets some unfriendly mums

OLLIE’S NEW SCHOOL IS A BIT OF A NIGHTMARE...

- Kate White

Worried Linda faces a fresh obstacle this week – as she encounters hostility at Ollie’s new school. The concerned mum is desperate for things to go well for her little boy, whom doctors are monitoring for signs of autism. However, she comes up against some snooty mums straight away. The unfriendly parents give Linda and Ollie an icy reception as they arrive on day one – but if Linda thought this was just first-day shyness, she’s in for a shock…

“It turns out that the mums at the school are a right gaggle of bitches,” shares our Walford insider. “Chantelle – who takes her daughters there – reckons that they’re always that way

and that Linda won’t be able to make friends. According to Chantelle, Linda is better off keeping her head down if she wants a quiet life.”

Given that she’s a friendly and gregarious landlady, this comes as a blow to Linda, who is used to being able to make friends quickly. And given Ollie’s learning challenges, Linda wants his school life to be as easy and comfortable as possible. So she’s keen to find allies among the mums and ensure that Ollie can make some new friends himself.

“Linda is on a mission to win them over and thinks Chantelle is exaggerating,” says our spy. “But when she goes in the next day, ready to wow them with her warmth, Linda receives the same cold treatment once again. Nobody else seems willing to make any kind of effort. It’s a huge blow to Linda, and she blames herself for making Ollie’s life harder.”

Given that both she and husband Mick are already hugely worried about their little boy, this is just another thing to send their stress levels skywards. Can they find a solution, or will Linda be tipped over the edge by the snotty parents?
