Callum faces off with dad Jonno
AS HIS DAD RETURNS, IT’S TIME TO BE OUT AND PROUD…
Brave Callum takes the first step towards his new life this week – but will a disastrous date with Ben and a fight with his dad derail him?
After being jilted by Whitney, Callum’s had to deal with a lot of difficult emotions, and he’s finally ready to explore the possibility of dating a man. So, he’s excited as he gets ready to meet Ben at the Prince Albert for their first proper date. Unfortunately, Ben arrives in a strange mood, and then Jay and Lola pitch up to join them. Callum’s gutted – this isn’t what he was hoping for at all!
“Ben has a visit from Stuart right before the date, and it throws a spanner in the works,” explains our Walford insider. “Stuart is the typical protective older brother, and he warns Ben not to hurt Callum. Let’s face it, Ben’s a pretty amoral and dodgy-dealing person, and he’s self-aware too. He’s usually happy to just take whatever he wants, but Callum’s pure goodness is giving him pause for thought.”
The date goes so badly that Callum even considers getting up and leaving. However, the next day, the penny drops when he discovers that Stuart tried to meddle with Ben. Keen to make amends, Callum asks Ben for a second date, and a chance to prove that they can make a go of it – yet
Ben’s response pushes Callum further outside his comfort zone than ever before…
Meanwhile, there’s trouble ahead when Stuart is blindsided by a visit from the brothers’ dad, Jonno. After their last encounter, Stuart doesn’t want Jonno anywhere near Callum, and he certainly doesn’t want him to know that his brother is gay. There’s no stopping father and son coming face to face, though, and Callum has to stand his ground.
“Jonno is a nasty piece of work, so when he finds out the wedding was cancelled, he really goes for the jugular,”

whispers our source. “In the past, Callum might have crumbled in the face of this sort of hostility, but he’s not the same man he was before all of this. Jonno is going to get a big surprise when Callum gives as good as he gets – he’s not going to let his dad get away with his usual cruel taunts and insults.”
True to form, Jonno behaves appallingly, as he and Callum face off against each other. Given Jonno’s history of violence, there’s a real menace in the air, and the situation escalates in the middle of the Square. Yet Callum is about to get support from the very last person he would expect to jump to his defence. Who is willing to put themselves between nasty Jonno and his devastated son?
