Dot returns home – with Dotty!

AND SHE’S NOT ALONE, AS GRANDDAUGHTER DOTTY MOVES BACK TO WALFORD…

- Laura-jayne Tyler

Albert Square welcomes the return of a much-loved local this week, as Dot finally arrives home to her loved ones.

The East End stalwart went away to collect her thoughts following the death of her dear old friend, Doctor Legg, and has been spending time in Ireland with her grandson Charlie. However, Dot must have stopped off via Wales on the way back, given that she is not alone when she returns – her other grandchild, Kirsty ‘Dotty’ Cotton, is with her!

“The time away appears to have done Dot the world of good,” grins our Eastenders source. “She has a big smile on her face and is thrilled to be reunited with her family, who are over the moon to have Dot back where she belongs.

“As for Dotty, it’s been a while since we’ve seen her – and she is all grown up,” adds our mole. “However, we’d be fools to forget that Dotty was a little terror as a child. She and her dad Nick even plotted to murder Dot! While she’s definitely matured since, Dotty is still no angel!”

Dot returns to huge hugs from the likes of Tiffany, Sonia and Bex – who will surely want to fill her in on all the drama she’s missed during her time away. However, Dot hasn’t even taken off her coat before stunning them with a surprise of her own, and introduces Dotty.

Now, while Stuart and Bex never had the pleasure of meeting troublesome Dotty when she was younger, Tiffany remembers only too well what a nightmare her former school ‘frenemy’ was back in the day. So, when Dot announces that Dotty will be staying in Walford with them, having secured a place at a London university, Tiff is extremely wary.

“The two girls weren’t exactly best pals when they were little,” recalls our spy. “Dotty once pushed Tiffany head first into a wheelie bin, so it’ll be interesting to see

whether they end up as friends or foes again…”

Dotty doesn’t do herself any favours this week when, after Bex tries to take her own life (see p8), she chooses a particularly awkward moment to mention that she found pills in Bex’s room. With all the upset, will Dot wish that she’d never stepped foot in Walford again? Or will she be the key to uniting her shattered family during a particularly difficult time?
