Pete discovers Moira’s affair

Cheating Moira’s scandalous affair with farmhand Nate is rumbled by Pete Barton this week – and, boy, is he sorry he picked up her mobile phone. Let’s not forget that Pete is Moira’s nephew, but has also been romantically entangled with the bedhopping woman. Since Moira has been happily shacked up with husband Cain, Pete really thought her maneater days were over. But when he accidentally stumbles upon her mobile phone, he discovers that Moira hasn’t retired her ‘mucky’ moniker at all…
“Pete’s been completely oblivious!” laughs Anthony Quinlan, who plays the villager. “He thought all the tension that’s been there between Moira and Nate was because Nate wasn’t pulling his weight and stuff. So, when Pete realises, he’s dumbfounded!”
Let’s face it, Nate and Moira have been skating on thin ice for weeks, and it’s a miracle they haven’t been outed before now. Yet it’s not until Pete starts chasing Nate and he lies that he’s ill, things unravel.
“Nate has been feigning illness, and Moira is supposed to be in the Cotswolds at a cattle auction when Pete finds her mobile,” shares Anthony. “He sees that Nate’s been messaging her and he begins putting two and two together. Then he rings Nate’s phone and Nate tries to cover it up, but doesn’t do a good job. Pete says, ‘Put Moira on the phone and get her back here now’. They’ve been rumbled!”
Ever since Moira’s shock affair began, we’ve all been wondering how she could completely turn her back on her morals and marriage vows. However, Anthony reckons that it’s not just pure lust and bad behaviour, but something deeper.
“Moira seems to have lost the plot a bit, doesn’t she? She appears to be in crisis,” muses Anthony. “I mean, she’s with Cain Dingle! Nate’s a farmer and a good chap, but Pete’s staggered. As much as Cain is a bad man, he’s loyal and Pete’s completely aware of what his capabilities are, especially if you cross him or his family.”
We wouldn’t want to be in Nate’s shoes the day that Cain does find out. But the truth won’t be coming from Pete…
“Moira is family and Pete will be loyal to her,” insists Anthony. “You don’t want to be on the wrong side of Cain and keeping secrets from him, though, do you? Pete is aware there could be a big backlash for him. If Cain finds out, it won’t be good for anyone!”
Let’s hope Pete can talk some sense into Moira before she blows up her whole life.
“Pete tries to warn Nate, but he doesn’t really seem to care,” shares Anthony. “With Moira, he’s trying to play the devil’s advocate and to advise her on the right thing to do – which is to stop it now!”
Moira seems to have lost the plot, doesn’t she?
