“If Kerry had just told the truth, it wouldn’t have been this mess!”

- Kate White

Manic Kerry finally confesses what really happened to Frank this week – leading horrified Tracy to make her own fatal mistake. Kerry’s guilt ramps up when the Hotton

Courier approaches her for an article about her heroism. Unable to bear the hypocrisy of her situation, broken Kerry hits the bottle. But worse is to come. Tracy makes a discovery that leads her to ask the questions that finally break Kerry.

“Kerry’s in a really strange place that day – she’s paranoid, panicky and the guilt is starting to eat her alive,” explains Laura Norton, who plays the crushed woman. “Kerry has a bit of a wobble because this journalist wants to do a piece on her raising money for all the workers and she knows she’s not a hero by any means. She can’t deal with it, so has a self-destruct moment and goes for a drink. When she comes back to the house, she’s greeted by Tracy.”

THE KEY TO THE TRUTH

Before Kerry’s manic moment, Tracy has another huge meltdown. Consumed by grief and anger, the distraught daughter throws a keyring that dad Frank gave her when she was little into the bin. Kerry can’t bear for Tracy to lose it, so pockets the trinket. Little does she know that it’s the clue that will unravel everything…

“There’s a moment when Kerry runs to the house to be sick because she’s in such a state,” continues Laura. “Tracy doesn’t want her to be locked out of the house, so she brings her bag for her. They have a scuffle and the keyring falls out of the bag. When that happens, Kerry is in a blind panic and doesn’t know what to say – she’s in so deep with all these lies.”

Kerry retrieving the keyring seems odd to Tracy, so she digs for more info in Kerry’s bedroom. There she finds passports and one-way tickets out of the UK.

“Tracy is piecing everything together, and asks Kerry, ‘Why the passports?’” shares Laura. “It’s a really weird moment. It’s oddly calm. It doesn’t come out of the high drama. Kerry is faced with this girl and she’s asked one question too many. Kerry thinks, ‘I’ve just got to get this off my chest’.”

“Kerry thinks,‘i’ve just got to get this off my chest’…”

CONFESSION TIME!

As Kerry starts to tell Tracy the truth, the only thing she’s determined to keep hidden is her daughter’s part in it all.

“I think it’s a relief, but the pain of having to admit to Tracy, who she’s really grown to love, is awful,” says Laura. “If she’d just told the truth in the first place, it would never have been the mess that it is now. It doesn’t feel good to confess, although it does feel right. She’s just aiming to keep Amy out of it.”

Unfortunately for Kerry, Tracy calls Amy to come over. As Kerry desperately tries to cover for her daughter, Amy walks in – and the look on her face tells Tracy everything that she needs to know.

“It’s a really tense scene!” reveals Laura. “Tracy is seeing Amy and Kerry in a different light and they aren’t the people she thought they were. She threatens to call the police, but they say, ‘Give us a chance to explain. We don’t want you to go anywhere until we’ve explained’.”

In a panic, Amy locks the door and Kerry takes Tracy’s phone. By this point, terrified Tracy believes that these two women could be capable of anything.

“They were never going to do anything to hurt her,” stresses Laura. “But understandably, Tracy’s afraid, and she sees an opportunity to get out, so legs it through the back door! Kerry’s hot on her heels and tries to stop her. She grabs Tracy, who pushes her – and Kerry hits her head.”

DEATH STRIKES AGAIN?

Kerry’s fall is severe, and Amy is distraught as she cradles her bleeding mum’s inert body. It looks as if Tracy could be about to understand exactly how they felt about Frank’s death, if she’s inadvertently killed Kerry!

“Amy and Tracy think Kerry’s dead,” shares Laura. “There’s blood everywhere and it’s a scary scene. Obviously, Tracy didn’t mean for it to happen, in the same way that Kerry and Amy didn’t mean to hurt Frank. Tracy’s now put herself in the same situation, basically.”

Will Kerry live to answer for her crime?
