Runaway Martin returns for Bex
AS HE DASHES BACK FOR BEX, THERE’S NO ESCAPING BLACKMAILER BEN…
Ruthless Ben has Martin right where he wants him this week, after the devastated dad sneaks back into Walford to be by poorly daughter Bex’s bedside.
Ben blackmailed Martin and his wife Stacey into hiding after she whacked Phil and put him in a coma – and now Ben’s using the wrench Stace used to do so as collateral against the couple.
From the moment Martin returns to Ben’s turf, he’s unable to escape the Mitchell man’s power, as he’s trapped in another criminal scheme – with devastating consequences…
“Martin’s daughter nearly died, but that’s no skin off Ben’s nose, and he’ll take full advantage,” tuts our Square spy. “It’s not at all sensible for Martin – or Stacey – to be in Walford while they’re so beholden to this mad man. Yet there’s no way Martin could stay away after Bex had tried to take her own life. And as soon as Ben clocks that he’s back, he wastes no time in making Martin squirm.”
Meanwhile, Ben is also involved in a risky feud with Tubbs and local brothers Kheerat and Jags, having recently stolen Kheerat’s car. And after he gets a call from Jags announcing that he’s kidnapped Lola, he orders Martin to help him get her back – with the promise that if he
Ben will use Bex’s suicide attempt to full advantage…”
does, he’ll call it quits so that Stacey can come back home. But, of course, Ben can’t be trusted!
“Ben is many things – although a man of his word is not one of them,” snips our sneak. “Poor Martin is straight back to square one once Ben further orders him to find Kheerat a car, or else he’ll hand the wrench to police. Martin is fuming, yet his hands are tied – what choice does he have while Ben still has hold of evidence that would land Stacey behind bars?”
Martin is driven to the edge as Ben taunts him. But all the while, Ben remains cool as a cucumber – and even finds the time for a father-daughter princess make-up session with Lexi! Eventually, though, Martin snaps – resulting in a violent scuffle between him
and Ben out on the street…
However, there’s seemingly no limit as to just how far wicked Ben is prepared to push mild-mannered Martin before there’s hope of Stacey coming home.
“Martin is a good man – but he’s a desperate one also,” reasons our sneak. “That means Ben has the poor bloke at his beck and call, and of course he won’t be willing to toss that priceless opportunity away without a very good reason. There’s no way that Martin can allow his wife to come out of hiding until he’s certain that there’s no danger of retribution from Ben.
