Kathy puts Rainie to the test
KATHY PUTS HER TO THE TEST, BUT CAN SHE PASS?
Rainie is handed a lifeline by Kathy this week – but despite her determination to sort herself out, she finds herself going off the rails once more. Is she beyond all help?
Desperate to earn herself some cash, broke Rainie turns to Kathy, and begs for a chance to prove herself. And although every fibre of Kathy’s being tells her she’s probably making a mistake, she agrees to give Rainie a trial shift at the café – despite Ian’s protests!
“Kathy essentially has a kind soul, so she wants to try to help Rainie, for little Abi’s sake as much as her own,” says our Eastenders insider. “As ever, though, Ian is the stumbling block. He makes it clear that if Rainie makes even the tiniest mistake, she’s out on her ear. And sure enough, when things don’t get off to a great start,
Ian fires Rainie on the spot!”
Upset that she’s messed up yet again, Rainie considers hitting the bottle. She finds a glimmer of hope, however, as she discovers a supportive note from boyfriend Stuart, so throws the booze away. Nevertheless, Rainie continues to stress out over her troubles, which lands her in hot water when Kathy turns up with little Abi…
“Kathy had been willing to give Rainie another chance,” sighs our mole. “But Rainie is in such an awful state that Kathy assumes she must be drunk! Kathy lays into Rainie, telling her she’s run out of chances. As far as Kathy’s concerned, Rainie is completely unfit to be looking after a baby.”
The next day, Rainie has another unexpected chance to make amends when Max asks her to keep an eye on
Abi while he runs an errand. Sadly, things go terribly yet again, and Max finishes up snapping at Rainie and taking the little’un back home.

Unfortunately for Kathy, Stuart gets wind of her plan and warns her to back off if she has any hopes of remaining a part of Abi’s life. So will Kathy go through with her risky idea anyway, or will she be scared off by Stuart’s threats?
