Gail returns from Thailand
SHE’S BACK FROM THAILAND – AND WE COULDN’T BE HAPPIER…
Three months have passed since Gail stepped nervously through a departure gate at Manchester Airport, ready to board a flight to Bangkok. “The first day of the rest of my life!” she called it. And we can’t say we blame her for leaving, given the misery that sons Nick and David have inflicted upon her.
We feared this might be the last we’d ever see of our beloved Gail – after all, how can the drizzly cobbles of Weatherfield compare with the beaches of Koh Samui? But this week, Gail flies home – with an awesome new hairdo and a positive mental attitude.
Here at Inside Soap, we’ve put our heads together to decide on the top five storylines we’d like for Gail’s return to the Street…
1 YOU GOTTA WORK!
Gail needs a job that brings her into contact with as many different characters as possible. The café is perfect for her (and we fear Shona might be leaving a vacancy soon) – or perhaps something involving a new skill she’s picked up in Thailand. Yoga teacher? Or Gail Rodwell: lifestyle guru?
2 A NEW HOME
Gail’s storylines have been dominated by her kids for too long. It’s time to move her out of the Platt residency and into an all-girl house share with Liz and Eileen. They’d bicker and fuss – but would also be an inspiration to single ladies of a certain age everywhere.
3 OLD FRIENDS
Corrie seems to have completely forgotten about Gail’s long-term friendship with Sally. Writers need to bring that back, to help keep both characters more grounded and real – particularly Gail, who is now played for laughs and has become a little too eccentric.
4 HERE COMES TROUBLE
Some sort of drama should follow Gail from Thailand – but not another charming con man after her money! After all, trouble follows Gail wherever she goes. She fled Weatherfield to escape it, so what’s the betting that it’s also the reason she ran back home?
5 LOVE OF A GOOD WOMAN
Gail’s appalling taste in men is legendary. So perhaps it’s time for Gail to explore something new? Let’s say we see her befriending a nice lady at a yoga class, who somehow gets the idea that Gail is a lesbian. They start going on dates together, but it takes
