Is this the moment that she discovers he abused Paul?
All hell will break loose in Weatherfield, when raging Bernie launches a violent assault on her partner Kel – after learning that he sexually abused her son, Paul, when he a was young lad.
Stars Jane Hazlegrove and Joseph Alessi – Bernie and Kel – have been filming the scenes on location, where Bernie confronts Kel at the shopping centre in which he works on the security team.
“There are no words to describe how Bernie will be feeling in this moment,” sighs our Corrie source. “To discover that a man whom she loved and trusted was doing this to her son will be crippling. It doesn’t come as a surprise that her first instinct is to lash out, but the question is: how far will Bernie go to avenge Paul’s suffering?” So far, the only person who knows the truth is Billy, after he helped Paul to realise that the relationship he had with Kel as a boy
|was actually abuse. When the realisation finally hit Paul, he attacked his mum’s boyfriend and put him in hospital – with Kel threatening to report Paul for the assault if he tells anyone about their past.
But with Bernie set to learn the truth, will Paul find the courage to speak up?
“Bernie is under no illusion by the time that she confronts Kel, judging by the vandalism at the shopping centre, where his security team photo has been defaced with the word ‘paedo’,” notes our spy. “Chesney has to restrain Bernie as she flies at Kel, but will Paul and the Winters get the justice that they deserve?”
