Ella, Charlie, Darren & Nancy are trapped underground!

A CRANE COLLAPSE SEES DEADLY DANGER ABOVE AND BELOW THE GROUND…

- Steven Murphy

There’s double terror in Hollyoaks village this week, as drunk Luke causes the crane being used in the construction of Cindy and Tom’s new business venture to collapse, leaving lives in danger above the ground. Meanwhile, in the unstable tunnels below, Nancy and Darren are trapped as they struggle to search for lost Charlie and Ella. Will everyone make it out of the horrific scene alive?

“Tom has an inkling that something is going to go wrong,” reveals Ellis Hollins, who plays the young entrepreneur. “Tom just cannot cope with Cindy and Woody, the builder she’s employed [played by Jake Quickenden], ignoring safety regulations. But Cindy and Woody think that everything’s going to go fine – but I mean, if they’re not wearing a hard hat, that’s the end of the world for Tom!”

And while Woody and Cindy get on with the building work, events soon spiral out of control. In the aftermath of baby DJ’S christening, emotional Luke gives in to temptation in his battle with the bottle, and gets drunk – deciding to jump into the crane and do what needs doing himself.

“The first domino really is Luke getting drunk and climbing in the crane,” reveals Ellis. “It has a knock-on effect and soon all sorts of stuff starts to happen. Poor

Tom is left horrified as he looks on…”

“The first Darren and Nancy know of any trouble is when they hear voices and realise Luke is on the rampage, and has been drinking,” says Ashley Taylor Dawson, aka Darren, who takes up the story. “With the crane out of control, the weight of it forces a hole into the floor. You see there are these tunnels under Hollyoaks village – Roman tunnels that everyone forgot to mention before, but they’re there!

Walter saw the kids playing near the entrance to the tunnels, so he says that maybe they’re down there. Darren and Nancy are being responsible parents, and decide to put their differences aside to come to their rescue.”

As Darren and Nancy search frantically, their panic soon puts them in terrible danger.

“It’s just like parents looking through a wood, but they’re looking through tunnels – screaming out for the kids,” says Ashley. “They go through one section of the tunnel and see a phone on the ground, which heightens their worry. Then the wall caves in above them. It quickly escalates and they keep getting stuck, as different parts of the wall fall down. They genuinely think they’re going to die…”

As chaos reigns all around, Cindy and Tom can only look on at the carnage Cindy’s grand plans have caused. And with the week filled with twists and turns, the aftermath will be felt for months to come.

“Tom thinks ‘I told you so’,” says Ellis. “But it’s all so awful – it’s hardly a case of the last laugh, as people could die…”
