The BIG DEBATE!
SHONA PUSHED TO THE BRINK!
With David in prison and Gail busy ‘finding herself’ in Thailand, poor Shona has been left to manage unruly Max all alone – and she’s received plenty of sympathy from Inside Soap readers…
She went too far this week, but I really feel for Shona. It’s an interesting and true situation to see in a soap, as she tries to be a parent to a kid that she’s not especially bonded with, and who has serious issues of his own. It was also interesting to see Sarah feeling ‘judged’ by the staff at the hospital for having had a drink. She’s allowed a break!

To be honest, I think Max’s behaviour would test the patience of a saint, and Shona is doing all she can with the boy’s dad in prison. It’s not as though the Platt family is full of positive male role models!

There are always two sides to every story, however – and there’s also respect for Max’s grandma…
It was interesting to see the Platts viewed through the eyes of an outsider when the grandma put her case for custody to Adam. I certainly wouldn’t want my grandson to be raised in that zoo!

Meanwhile, one reader heard the plot wheels grinding in the background…
I laugh when a soap lays on the ‘irony’ with a trowel. Eastenders is famous for, “This will be the best Christmas Walford has ever had!”, followed by total mayhem. And Corrie had a good one this week with, “At least David will be home from jail soon!”, just as the prison riot was brewing. Not exactly subtle!
