David is charged with Josh’s attempted murder!

HE’S THREATENED BY HIS INMATES, AND THEN CHARGED WITH JOSH’S ATTEMPTED MURDER!

- Tom Spilsbury

The Platts’ only hope is that Josh tells the police what happened…”

David’s troubles grow far, far worse this week, as he’s officially charged with the attempted murder of Josh Tucker – the man who raped him last year. But who is responsible for stabbing Josh? And is the true culprit deliberately trying to shift the blame on to David?

The attack occured during a riot at the prison, and although there isn’t any clear CCTV footage to show exactly who it was who stabbed Josh, the incriminating pictures do show the moments leading up to it, and David standing nearby.

So when the police question David about what happened, and then show him the damning video along with the scissors which were used in the attack, David is extremely worried. He tells them he’s innocent, but if that really is the case, who is the guilty party?

“David is in it up to his neck, and it’s not looking good,” says our Weatherfield source. “David has an obvious motive, and he clearly had the opportunity. Plus, his finger prints are all over the scissors which stabbed Josh! It might not be conclusive proof, but it certainly makes David the number one suspect.”

Meanwhile, back on the Street, David’s fiancée Shona takes a call from the wedding planners, who tell her that the outstanding balance is due. However, there’s no guarantee that David is going to be out of prison in time for the ceremony – especially when Shona receives a text from solicitor Imran, informing her that David has been charged with attempted murder!

“Shona feels her world collapsing around her,” sobs our sneak. “After all the terrible things that have happened, she had dared to hope that she and David were about to turn a corner. David only had a few more days left to serve in jail, and the wedding could have marked a fresh start for them both. But now, with this new horror hanging over them, the chances of Shona being

reunited with her love for their big day seem remote.”

Shona begs Nick to bury the hatchet and do anything he can to help his brother. Inside the prison, however, David’s prospects seem bleak, with his inmate Abe urging him to stick to the story that the pair of them have cooked up… unless he wants to end up the same way as Josh!

Soon, the Platt family heads to the magistrates’ court for the plea hearing, where David, Abe and fellow prisoner Tez all plead ‘not guilty’ to the charges. But to his loved ones’ horror, David is remanded in

custody until the trial, with no bail granted, even though his initial sentence was about to come to an end.

“This is a sickening blow for Shona, and for all of the Platts,” reckons our mole. “Their only hope, ironically, is that Josh tells the police what actually happened. Shona is certain that David can’t be guilty, so is his fate now solely in the hands of the vile man who raped him?”

Later, Imran calls round to the Platt houshold to tell them that Josh has finally regained consciousness – so does he hold the key to the truth? Or will Josh be the man who ruins David’s life forever?
