Couch POTATO

Actor Hamza Jeetooa tells us about his dream viewing…

-

I’m never very current with my TV choices – I usually watch something a few months later when it comes out on Google Play! Right now, I’m watching Years And Years and, my goodness, it’s one of the most stressful things I’ve ever seen, because it’s too close to the bone. I have to summon up the courage to watch another episode!

I’ve just finished watching Chernobyl – sorry, I’m on a very depressing streak here! Now I’m watching Succession; I’ve just finished season one and then I’ll get started on the second. I’m excited for the new season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, too – I follow the show on Instagram and I’m obsessed with it.

Comedy-wise, I’m watching Fresh Off The Boat. I didn’t think I’d like the American set-up, but it’s really funny and I love the characters. It’s great to see people of that ethnic origin in a show that’s about them, plus many of its writers are of the same ethnicity. And what with me growing up as a 90s kid, there’s a lot in common!

Film-wise, I can watch The Heat over and over again. Stan And Ollie was wonderful yet sad and tragic, and I really enjoyed Crazy Rich Asians. I’m obsessed with Constance Wu, who was in that film as well as Fresh Off The Boat and Hustlers, which I also watched recently – she’s just fantastic.

If I could be on any show, it’d be The Boys or The Umbrella Academy – something where you’ve got an array of powers. Or maybe Black Mirror… Anything superhuman or dystopian, I’m here for that!
