The Panesars evict the Slaters
THEY COULD BE HOMELESS FOR CHRISTMAS…
This is the moment that the Panesar family bursts into No 31 Albert Square to announce that they’ve bought the house – making the Slaters homeless!
Kheerat, Jags and Vinny break the news to horrified Kat, who refuses to believe them. However, when Kat learns that Big Mo has been ignoring letters from their landlady Janine Butcher’s solicitor, informing them of the sale, she’s forced to accept the cold hard truth…
“Kheerat and co have bought the house fair and square, and all the Slaters are to them is a bunch of rowdy squatters,” despairs our Walford insider. “The clan received two letters addressed to Stacey – the first in August, and then a follow-up reminder in September giving them two months’ notice to vacate the property. They really don’t have a leg to stand on!”
Mo is in the firing line after Kat realises she knew about their impending doom and did nothing. Yet, it seems no amount of screaming and hollering will help now.
So, Kat appeals to Kheerat’s better nature in the only way she knows how, and lays on the charm, hoping to change his mind. However, Kheerat’s no pushover! In an act of goodwill, he agrees to allow the Slaters to stay, but insists their rent will go up as a result.
“Obviously, this means that the family will keep a roof over their heads – but they don’t have the money for a monthly increase,” shares our spy. “They were forced to give all their spare cash back to Phil, after he found out Kat had his £50,000 stashed in her wardrobe. She’s skint!”
After Kat tells Mo and Jean of their predicament, Stacey’s mum doesn’t take it well. However, Kat Slater isn’t one to go down without a fight, and puts a drastic plan in place to put things right.
As the Panesars return to talk financial arrangements, Kat’s scheme becomes crystal clear. So, what exactly does she have up her sleeve?
