Martin is drawn to his ex, Sonia
THE FORMER COUPLE SEEM TO BE GROWING CLOSER…
Martin Fowler has been a bit of a train-wreck since his marriage to Stacey broke down – but is there a chance, this week, of a rekindled romance with his first wife, Sonia?
The ex-market stallholder has fallen on hard times and taken up criminal work with loan shark Charlie ‘Tubbs’ Savage. However, his corrupt lifestyle hasn’t gone unnoticed by pal Kush, who tells Martin he doesn’t want Arthur seeing him till he sorts himself out.
“It’s hardly a huge surprise,” tuts our Eastenders sleuth.
“Martin’s been striding about the Square covered in cuts and bruises for weeks, and Kush – correctly – doesn’t think Martin is a good role model for Arthur. But Sonia softens Kush up, convincing the sceptical dad to let her go with Martin and Arthur to ‘Walford Winterland’. As you can imagine, little Arthur is thrilled, yet does Sonia have an ulterior motive for spending time with her ex?”
At the festive market,
Sonia quizzes Martin over his finances, and is shocked by his angry outburst when he fails to win a cuddly toy from one of the stands. Was Kush right in wanting to keep Martin away from his lad?
“It’s lucky that Sonia’s on hand to calm Martin down,” says our spy. “She’s always been the voice of reason, and makes him see sense, telling him it doesn’t matter. Soon, the pair are reminiscing over their years together. If you didn’t know better, you might assume they were still a married couple…”
Sonia realises that Martin has lost direction in his life, so tries to help by asking him to move back in with her. But she isn’t prepared for his reaction!
“It wasn’t that long ago that Sonia made it clear she still had feelings for Martin,” our mole reminds us. “And Martin’s head has been all over the place since he found out that Stacey’s moved on with another man. We’ve already witnessed Martin’s hook-up with Ruby – so how might he respond to Sonia’s proposal?”
Later, Sonia opens up to her ex Tina about her true feelings for
Martin. But if she is considering getting back with her former hubby, is she flirting with disaster?
