Rita falls out with Jenny
JENNY IS CONFUSED BY HER ANGRY OUTBURST…
Lonely Rita’s mood plummets this week, after she has a huge fall out with foster daughter Jenny over a trip to Winter Wonderland.
The Rovers landlady is excited about taking Rita to the Christmas event, but when she arrives at the flat to pick her up, things go sour. Rita’s in a real state after realising that the people she has always been closest to are gone – she’s now home alone in her flat and she doesn’t even have her work to keep her busy.
So, when well-meaning Jenny accidentally makes her feel like a charity case, Rita loses it.
“Rita’s always been fiercely independent, busy and popular,” shares our Street insider. “But these days she feels as though life is very empty. Jenny adores her, and is looking forward to their festive outing, but
Rita misconstrues what she says. Instead of heading off for a nice trip out together, Jenny’s sent home with a flea in her ear, and Rita finds herself on her own again!”
Truth be told, Rita’s missing the hustle and bustle of life behind the Kabin till. There’s a glimmer of hope when she discovers Brian is no longer employing Gail in her role, but then she hears that Cathy has stepped into the breach. When she bumps into Gemma, it’s a happy moment as the two friends start catching up, but then the quads need their mum. As Gemma rushes off, Rita sadly reflects that nobody seems to need her.
Having sent Jenny packing, Rita’s not helping herself and it may only get worse. Can she find the strength to be honest about how she feels, or will Rita face a very lonely Christmas?
