“It’s not the end for Michelle!”

Kym Marsh waves goodbye to Corrie – but insists that she’ll be back…

-

How does it feel to have wrapped on Corrie after spending 13 years on the cobbles, Kym?

The show has been such a huge part of my life, and to know that I had spoken my last words as Michelle, for now at least, was such a strange feeling. My emotions have been all over the place since I decided to leave, but it wasn’t until

I started packing up my things and read my final script that it hit me.

Which of your storylines was most memorable?

The loss of Michelle’s son, Ruairi, was such a personal one for me. I went to speak at the House of Commons about trying to change the laws around birth certificates – all because we chose to do that storyline. People knew that I had lost a child, and I think because we’d done that, it had reached out to so many people. Corrie was fantastic in that it didn’t shy away from that story.

Will Michelle be back?

We [Kym and Corrie boss

Iain Macleod] very much equally saw it as a break. There are no set plans, or date for when I’m coming back, but it is very much a conversation to be had in the future. This is definitely not the end of Michelle, unless

they kill me off screen!

What do you think you’ll miss the most about about life on the Street?

The people! I spend more time with the people here than I do my own family. I’ve made friends for life – and although

I will miss working with them, I know I’ll keep in touch with all of them. Alison King [who plays Carla] and I are like sisters, and I’m really going to miss seeing her beautiful face every day!
