Who MURDERS Graham?

The stage is set for a New Year ‘whodunnit?’…

- Kate White

There’s been trouble brewing at Home Farm for some months, and we now know that there will be blood soaking into those deep-pile carpets come January, when Graham will be murdered by an unseen assailant, kicking off an epic murder-mystery storyline!

We’ll see the suspects gather over the festive season, as resentments fester and erupt. Will it be Kim, in the Library, with the lead piping? Marlon, in the kitchen, with some poorly reheated turkey? Or Al, with the rope, at the Outdoor Pursuits Centre?

The murder drama kicks into gear on Christmas Eve, when Graham receives the results of a DNA test and broods over the contents. Although Kim has informed him that Jamie is Millie’s biological father, Graham doesn’t believe her, and has his own test done. The next day, as Jamie and Andrea celebrate their first festivities in the family fold, Graham marches down the drive of Home Farm armed with this incendiary information. Whatever the results, Graham wants to have it out with Kim, and he intends to make sure this is one Christmas lunch she never forgets.

“Graham’s full of emotion after receiving the DNA results, and he’s not great at handling emotion, so there’s a big spillage!” warns Andrew Scarborough, who plays the dangerous man. “He’s been consumed by the issue of Millie potentially being his daughter because, subconsciously, he sees it as some sort of redemption. Graham was responsible for his unborn child being killed all those years ago, but if Millie is his, he thinks somebody has forgiven him.”

This Christmas was supposed to be a fantastic one for Graham, thanks to his new love Rhona and their plans to start a life together abroad. However, things don’t turn out quite as Graham had hoped – and when he sees her and Leo with her ex-husband Paddy, it shakes him up. So much so that he decides to head to Home Farm and have it out with Kim, who is already furious that he bought Millie a Christmas present.

“Seeing Rhona, Paddy and Leo just reminds him of the ready-made family he could have had, so he gets a bit upset about it,” explains Andrew. “Kim and Andrea think the present he sent Millie is evidence of Graham playing games, but he would have done it anyway. He absolutely loves Millie as a daughter and he’s very fatherly towards her, even if it turns out he’s not her biological dad.”

The stage is set for a big Tate showdown as Graham confronts Kim over the turkey, and Andrew says it was great fun to film…

“We had some cracking one-liners and a good oldfashioned ding-dong!” he grins. “I love doing those scenes with Claire King [Kim], Anna Nightingale [Andrea] and Alex Lincoln [Jamie] – and they’ve all got their claws out this time!”

But is one of them furious enough to turn killer?
