How does it feel to be spending your first Christmas as one of the Mcdonalds, Alexandra?
Alexandra Oh, it’s amazing even to be involved with them at all. I’m still getting used to it! Elle I think Amy appreciates having a bigger sister. Being an only child for her has always been a problem, as she has Steve and Tracy for parents! There is always so much drama going on that Amy feels left out, but having Emma around changes that.
Have you bonded off screen?
Elle Definitely! Ali is one of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with. Alexandra I’m 10 years older than Elle, so it’s funny that we’re playing closer in age on screen. When we’re having chats outside of work, she says all these modern things that I haven’t got a clue about.
She’s teaching me a lot!
Although, just like Emma and Amy, you’re both big fans of Little Mix, we hear?
Alexandra Yes! There was no acting required for those scenes where they got tickets.
Elle Honestly, we were over the moon after that episode aired because Jesy Nelson from Little Mix mentioned us on her Instagram stories! We were properly fan-girling over it.
What are your plans for the Christmas holidays this year?
Alexandra I’m spending it with my boyfriend Joe and his family.
Elle My mum is doing Christmas dinner. Normally we go on holiday, or go to a restaurant, as I don’t think anyone really wants the stress of cooking 100 Yorkshire puddings.
But this year she is braving it.
And at the moment I’m learning to drive, so I’m hoping that I’ll be on the road before Christmas!
Are you hoping Santa is going to bring you a car this year, then?
Elle Yes, I’ve always wanted a Mini. That is the dream.
Simon and Kate tell us that you keep them on their toes, Elle?
Elle Well, honestly, it’s like working with people my age sometimes. They’re both so funny.
I love Bev [Callard], who plays Liz, too. I didn’t know she was leaving until I saw it on Loose Women, and when I saw her, I was like, “But what about us! Are you coming back?” as I genuinely love her!
What do you hope for Emma and Amy in 2020?
Alexandra I really enjoy working in the Rovers, so I hope that continues and that Emma doesn’t do anything silly like leave her job. I get to be nosey in everyone else’s storylines! Elle I want it to all kick off! But please, no more secret siblings for Amy just yet! [Laughs]
