Bethany is outraged this week when she is finally put in the picture about her new boss, Ray, finding out that he’s a total sleazebag!
The scales fall from Bethany’s eyes where her employer is concerned after she is passed over for promotion at the Bistro, with Ray choosing to hire Alya as the restaurant’s new manager. However, it’s when Carla reveals that Ray once tried it on with business partner
Michelle – before forcing her to sign a gagging order – that Bethany really sees red…
“Bethany is appalled that Ray can get away with harassing his female staff, and isn’t shy about voicing her opinion,” reveals our Street insider. “However, when she tries to warn Alya, Bethany is ordered home and told to rethink her attitude!”
It’s not surprising that Bethany feels particularly passionate about Ray’s behaviour, given that she is a former victim of sexual abuse and knows exactly how it feels to be taken advantage of.
Sadly, loyal Alya is quick to defend Ray, forcing Bethany to wonder if her future still lies in waitressing at the Bistro.
However, as she discusses her career dilemma with
Daniel, Bethany doesn’t quite get the response that she is expecting – he says that she might be better off leaving Weatherfield altogether!
“It’s no secret that Bethany still cares very deeply for Daniel,” says our source. “So when he urges her to spread her wings and apply to attend a creative writing course out of town, her heart sinks.”
