THE GROOM GOES MISSING HOURS AFTER SAYING “I DO”…
Ah, don’t newlyweds Courtney and Jesse look the picture of happiness as they pose for photos with their loved ones on their big day? Sadly, the smiles soon fade for the happy couple when bride Courtney wakes up the morning after her wedding to find out that her new hubby hasn’t come home! So where exactly is Jesse, and what has happened to him?
“It’s a classic Hollyoaks wedding, full of high drama!” teases star Luke Jerdy, who plays missing groom Jesse. “It was absolutely brilliant to film, because I think in the past a lot of things have happened to Jesse, rather than him being the catalyst for situations. So it was nice for me to be able to film stuff where he’s the protagonist for a change.”
The drama of Jesse and Courtney’s wedding kicks off after the groom overhears a secret conversation that sends him reeling, and leaves him with a very big decision to make…
“Jesse steps out for some fresh air before the ceremony, because he’s feeling a little bit nervous,” Luke tells us. “While he’s outside, he overhears Grace and James talking about shooting Mercedes!
It’s a massive shock for him – he, Grace and Liam have just agreed to start a new chapter with no more secrets, so this is the ultimate betrayal for Jesse, and the last straw in his relationship with his sister.”
Although poor Jesse is stunned by what he’s heard, and unsure of what to do with this life-changing information, he’s forced to paint on a smile in front of his bride Courtney, and pledge his love to her.
“There are lots of nice moments during the wedding, but for Jesse the whole thing is tainted by the information he’s just found out,” sighs
Luke. “He’s trying to keep his sister away from Courtney, because he doesn’t want to ruin her happy day. It’s the biggest day of Jesse’s life, but it’s hard for him to focus on having a good time.”
While he’s all smiles for the cameras, poor Jesse is tormented as he wrestles with whether or not to shop his sister and James to the police. We’ve been sworn to secrecy about what he decides, but Jesse’s discovery sets off a chain of events which will result in a heartbreaking outcome for the villagers…
“What happens next will come as a real shock to the viewers,” teases Luke. “And there’s quite a poigniant message attached that it’s worth reminding people of.”
