Sid’s cousin Jordan arrives

HOLLYOAKS NEWCOMER CONNOR CALLAND IS LOVING HIS ROLE AS DODGY DRUG DEALER JORDAN…

- Alice Penwill

Hollyoaks’ big, hard-hitting storyline for 2020 begins with a vengeance this week, as Sid’s pill-pushing cousin Jordan rocks up in the village – and starts looking for an unsuspecting young sidekick to sell his wares! Jordan’s arrival will introduce a drug-gang plot that’s set to run throughout the year, involving a whole host of the village’s teenage characters – and rising star Connor Calland is delighted to be playing troublemaker Jordan…

“Jordan is heavily involved with the story – he comes in and kicks off the whole thing,” explains the star. “He’s the one with all the connections, so he’s like the middle man of it all between the community and the people higher up.”

Jordan arrives not only to seek out new ground for his drug business, but also to spend more time with his relative Sid

Jordan wants to know if there’s a gap for what he’s selling...

– and he quickly makes an impression on Sid’s new guardian, Leela.

“Jordan takes a shine to Leela,” explains Connor. “Especially when he finds out she’s taken Sid under her wing, as he’s grateful for that. There’s a nice friendly connection between them, but the way they’re talking, anything could happen – Jordan’s a big flirt!”

Newcomer Jordan isn’t in Hollyoaks to find romance, however, and soon starts to sniff out what’s what and who’s who in the village.

“In the next few weeks Jordan’s getting introduced to everybody,” reveals Connor. “And I think he then starts to realise what job prospects he could have there. Jordan wants to see how everyone works, and if there’s a gap for what he’s selling.”

Keen to get his drugs empire up and running on this new turf, he quickly recruits Sid into helping him out.

“I think Jordan just wants Sid to work with him because he’s the only family he has in the neighbourhood,” Connor tells us. “He loves Sid to bits, and he’ll go to the end of the world for him.

But at the end of the day, Jordan’s coming in with a purpose, and at the moment there’s nobody else in the community he can trust.”

Jordan might be trouble, but actor Connor hopes that people won’t completely hate his alter ego.

“I hope viewers will like my character,” he says. “Maybe not want to be friends with Jordan, per se, but get taken in by him in the same way that everyone in the village gets taken in by him. I’d like to think viewers will still like him a few months down the line – although if they don’t, then I guess

I’m doing a good job.”
