Couch POTATO
Presenter Anna Richardson picks her dream viewing…
I’m a massive Sky Atlantic fan,
so I was totally gripped by Chernobyl.
I was a teenager when the tragedy happened, and I remember it being reported on the news, but what I didn’t realise – and what really shocked me – was how close we were to an absolute disaster: it nearly wiped out the whole of Europe. I was so taken in by the bleakness of it.
I haven’t seen much comedy recently, but I have been watching re-runs of Blackadder!
If you think about the fact that the first show aired in 1983, more than 30 years ago, it’s really interesting that that kind of comedy endures.
It’s beautifully written, brilliantly acted and very funny.
The TV I most like to relax to is
Channel 4 News.
It’s not light at all, but at 7pm I have to sit down and put that on. I love all the presenters: Jon Snow is a legend, but I’m also obsessed with Gary Gibbon, the political editor. I think he’s a silver fox!
I’m a child of the 70s – I used to love Starsky & Hutch.
I was totally in love with Hutch; I had pictures of him all over my bedroom! Also, I loved the original Charlie’s Angels – I wanted to be Sabrina, because two of them were blonde and one had a black bob, so I’ve kind of fulfilled that fantasy.
I totally believed Suranne Jones as Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack.
I know a bit because Sue [Perkins], my other half, did a documentary about Anne a few years ago. If I could be in that, I’d like to play one of her love interests – a bored, wealthy lady in a tight bodice, who gets seduced by a very attractive Suranne!
