Smitten Abi gets a nasty reality check this week – when she discovers her love interest, Ray, is a sex pest. But as she later attends a charity event with him, is she choosing to ignore what she’s hearing – or does she have a plan up her sleeve?
The loved-up mechanic had believed she’d hit the jackpot with Ray, who was charming and successful. However, Abi’s dreams are shattered when Bethany makes it her mission to expose Ray as an abuser in a damning article.
It makes for difficult reading for Abi, who realises that the man she’s been sleeping with has been preying on women.
“To think that Abi missed her chance with Kevin because she got distracted by creepy Ray,” laments our Coronation
Street spy. “But she was just wowed by his larger-than-life persona and their chemistry. Part of her doesn’t want to believe that it’s true, and to be able to continue to date Ray. The problem is that Abi can’t ignore her instincts about what Bethany has written.”

Street, and it’s not long before Abi is reading the details of how Ray manipulated women who work for him during a prolonged campaign of abuse.
She reads the full story alongside best friends Sally and Tim, who are equally horrified by what they are learning. When Abi bumps into Ray in the Kabin, she’s
quick to have a dig at him. However, the sleazy bloke is not having any of it.
“Ray is arrogant and egotistical – he believes he can win Abi round,” shares our insider. “He seems to have an answer for everything, and really tries to downplay what Bethany is accusing him of. Abi is astonished when he makes it clear that he still fully intends to host the charity ball at the Bistro, and wants her to be his date at the event. It’s a barefaced cheek!”
As the plans for Ray’s big night get under way, Abi has a lot of thinking to do. She ultimately decides to go to the gala, and arrives armed with a plan. Is she ready to stand by her man – or will fiery Abi make Ray wish that he had never met her?
