Maria chooses Gary over Ali
BUT IS IT REALLY OVER FOR HER AND ALI?
Still reeling after Gary’s shock proposal, Maria faces a big decision this week.
Aghast that Gary popped the question barely an hour after she’d secretly slept with ex-boyfriend Ali, Maria is in turmoil. Having convinced herself that Gary had been lying to her again, she let herself fall into Ali’s arms. But now she knows Gary was only sneaking around in order to secure her engagement ring, Maria’s been knocked for six!
Meanwhile, on the back of their bunk-up in the barbers’, oblivious Ali assumes that he and Maria are an item again. So when Maria finally tells Gary that she wants to be his wife this week, how will Ali react?
“The run-up to Gary’s proposal has been a rocky road for Maria,” sighs our
Corrie insider. “Finding out that not only had he been working as a loan shark, but he was also involved in the collapse of Underworld’s roof, has dented her faith in him. And Maria’s recent miscarriage has been a major heartbreak for them both. Now poor Maria’s found herself caught between two blokes, both of whom have a very questionable reputation. Okay, so Gary’s murderous crimes far outweigh Ali’s painkiller addiction – but she would probably be far better off without either of them!”
Maria’s decision isn’t made any more straightforward when Ali calls round and begs her to give their relationship another chance. As Maria continues to mull over her options, she ends up admitting to Carla that she’s slept with her ex again. But it’s not long before she makes up her mind and tells delighted Gary that she’d love to marry him.
“Of course, Gary’s thrilled – but unsurprisingly, he and
Maria would probably be far better off without Gary or Ali!”
Maria hardly get the warmest of receptions as they proceed to announce their big news,” sighs our spy. “While Gary’s ex-fiancée Sarah can barely believe what she’s hearing, however, Ali swallows his pride and shakes Gary’s hand. But when he later visits Maria at the barbers’ and pleads with her not to marry Gary, he lays his heart firmly on the line…”
Determined to stick to her guns, Maria later summons Ali to the ginnel, where she orders him to stay out of her life. But will Ali let bygones be bygones – or will Maria’s foolish fling prove impossible to forget?
