Little Lucas gets hold of a gun

THE YOUNGSTER IS IN DANGER AS AN INNOCENT GAME GOES HORRIBLY WRONG…

- Allison Jones

All hell breaks loose while Dawn has her young son Lucas in her care this week, after the little lad comes strolling into the room with a gun in his hand!

Horrified Dawn is panicstricken to see that Lucas has innocently swapped his toy gun for the real deal in the middle of a game, and it’s down to Billy to intervene before the very worst happens. Meanwhile, Dawn’s father Will is desperate that his daughter doesn’t find out the truth – that the gun belongs to him!

“Everybody is really, really frightened,” admits Dean Andrews, who plays Will. “They’re in the middle of playfighting in a game of ‘blaster gun’, pretending to shoot at one another. And then Lucas appears with this gun. Billy, Harriet, Will and Dawn are all there, but it’s Billy – with a little bit of coaxing – who gets the gun back from Lucas.”

This catastrophic scene ensues while Dawn has been permitted some much-longedfor quality time with her son, who’s been living with foster parents since social services removed Lucas from her care. She’s clearly anxious that their time together goes well, and Will is right by her side.

“Everyone tries to help,” shares Dean. “They try to make Lucas feel comfortable – to have a little play with him, to find out what he likes and doesn’t like. Just to help him to settle in, really. Will knows that Dawn can be a good mother, that she’s shown she can be loving and responsible – even though she’s nervous about Lucas visiting.”

As apprehensive as Dawn is feeling, the last thing she’s expecting is for Lucas to end up waving a firearm around her front room! Thankfully, Billy saves the day and to everyone’s relief, Lucas is unharmed. But once Billy and

Harriet work out the gun is Will’s, he begs them not to tell his daughter…

“Will and Dawn are finally in a good place,” sighs Dean. “He’s met Lucas a number of times, and – as he’s said on more than one occasion – he just wants them all to be a loving family that does ordinary things. So Will has a lot of explaining to do, and tries to convince Billy and Harriet not to tell anyone – Dawn especially – so it doesn’t cause problems with Lucas…”
